Investopedia Mortgage Illustrations
Project Overview
I led the art direction for a series of 19 illustrations for Investopedia, a brand focusing on finance under the DotDash Meredith umbrella. The project's goal was to develop a family of illustrations that individually highlighted various mortgage aspects, while collectively resonating with the broader ethos of Investopedia.
The Challenge: Consistency Across Multiple Artists
Developing a Unified Style: A key challenge was ensuring stylistic consistency among the works of different illustrators (Ellen Lindner, Joules Garcia, Mira Norian, Yurle Villegas). I established guidelines such as an isometric perspective and a consistent line weight of 10px to maintain a uniform look in line with Investopedia’s branding.
Bringing Assets Together: After receiving the initial illustrations, my task was to design each piece into a finished illustration, animating them where necessary. This process involved carefully blending individual assets to create a cohesive and engaging series, adhering to the project’s artistic vision.
This project’s success was not just a result of my direction, but also the collaborative efforts of the entire team. Special thanks to Joshua Seong and Charley Stone for their support, and to Hilarey Gould, the Investopedia editor, for her guidance and editorial insight. And a special thanks to the wonderfully talented group of Illustrators.
