Roles: Art Director
ETrade Investments Package for Investopedia
Client: E*TRADE
Role: Art Director
Deliverables: 14 illustrations (1 hero, 1 footer, 12 editorial)
Illustrator: Michela Buttignol
Platform: Investopedia
Project Overview
This sponsored editorial package was developed with ETRADE to drive engagement from readers exploring advanced investing strategies. The goal was to increase visibility and clicks on ETRADE ads running across the content.
I art directed a set of 14 illustrations with Michela Buttignol:
1 hero image (top of article)
1 footer image (end of article)
12 editorial illustrations (one per section)
Each visual reinforced the article’s key themes while creating a consistent, branded user experience that supported the campaign’s ad performance goals.
The Challenge
Audience: Intermediate investors ready to level up
Goal: Support ad engagement without overwhelming editorial tone
KPI: Drive clicks on E*TRADE’s embedded display ads
Need: A cohesive, visually rich package that aligned with Investopedia’s style and E*TRADE’s brand
The Concept
I directed a unified photo-collage style—grounded, analog, and data-driven.
Design direction focused on:
Tactile textures (grid paper, paper cutouts)
Financial symbolism (charts, hands, currency)
Movement and momentum through form and layout
The result: editorial illustrations that elevated the story while supporting E*TRADE’s performance goals through thoughtful visual storytelling.
