Roles: Art Director
Gerber Life Insurance Package for Investopedia
Client: Gerber Life Insurance
Role: Art Director
Deliverables: 14 custom illustrations (1 spotlight + 13 editorial)
Platform: Investopedia
Project Overview
I art directed a branded editorial spotlight in partnership with Gerber Life Insurance, published on Investopedia. The goal: educate families on life insurance while driving ad engagement with Gerber's display placements.
Working with illustrator Joules Garcia, I delivered 14 illustrations:
1 spotlight image for the package landing page
13 editorial illustrations, each tailored to article content
The illustrations supported readability, enhanced trust, and created a cohesive branded experience across the full content package.
The Challenge
Targeting millennial families, the project needed to make life insurance approachable and easy to understand—while encouraging interaction with Gerber’s on-page ads.
Challenges included:
Simplifying complex topics without losing credibility
Aligning with both Investopedia’s editorial tone and Gerber’s brand
Creating a consistent visual system across 13 unique articles
Tight deadline with 3 weeks
The main KPI was click-throughs on Gerber’s display ads, measured against engagement and time on page.
The Concept
I created a custom color system blending Investopedia’s brand palette with tones that matched Gerber’s soft, family-friendly feel.
The visual style was inspired by inprint and risograph aesthetics—using fine lines, textures, and dot patterns to give the illustrations a subtle, tactile quality. This added visual warmth without distracting from the content.
The result: clear, cohesive visuals that humanized financial content and supported performance goals by keeping readers engaged and in the experience longer.
